Its active ingredient is called harpagosides (0.5-1% of the dried plant), and it possesses antirheumatic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antispasmodic properties. For this reason, it is very useful in all types of rheumatic processes, arthritis, general inflammation, and digestive disorders. Its use allows for the replacement or reduction of corticosteroids, phenylbutazones, and other antirheumatics. It can be used continuously for 3-6 weeks. Its combination with horsetail and dandelion promotes cartilage regeneration.
