Himalaya Chai

YOGI TEA® Himalaya is a traditional herbal tea that captures the contemplative energy of the majestic Himalayan mountain range. Spicy fennel and ginger give this classic chai a mysterious flavor and rich aroma. The addition of soft, sweet cinnamon, anise, and coriander makes it especially delicious. It is enjoyed in the Indian tradition, sweetened with a little milk, whether animal or plant-based. The essence of this infusion is "Balance and Openness."

Ingredients

Ginger

Ginger has been used in the Far East for over 3,000 years as a spice and medicinal plant. It has a spicy, fruity flavor and contains, in addition to various vitamins, essential oils, and valuable minerals.

Fennel

Fennel is one of the oldest known medicinal plants in the world. It belongs to the Umbelliferae family and has been popular internationally for thousands of years for its intense aroma. Fennel has a spicy-sweet flavor slightly reminiscent of anise.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is one of the most expensive spices in the world and was probably used in China as early as 3,000 BC as a spice and medicinal plant. Cinnamon is obtained from the bark of the South Asian cinnamon tree. It has a sweet, aromatic flavor and contains numerous tannins and beneficial essential oils.

Anise

This annual plant, whose sweet fruit has been revered by humans for thousands of years, flourishes in Asia and the southeastern Mediterranean. Anise was once offered to the gods, and today it's found in cooking, Christmas sweets, and as a delicious spice in many YOGI TEA® teas.

Cilantro

In the Near East and Asia, cilantro, with its slightly sweet flavor, is used in almost every dish. On the one hand, there's its magnificent aroma, reminiscent of a spicy blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange. On the other hand, cilantro is packed with nutrients and is mentioned in the Old Testament as a medicinal plant.

Licorice

Licorice, also known as licorice, has been known as a medicinal plant since ancient times and is one of the 50 basic herbs of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It is about 50 times sweeter than sugar and has a mildly sweet, sour, and bitter taste. Thanks to its valuable nutrients, licorice was chosen as the medicinal plant of the year in 2012.

Preparation

Add 2 teaspoons (2.4g) to one liter of boiling water and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Strain! Add the hot milk and sweetener if desired.
